About:
Michaela Salvo is an American digital artist. She holds a Bachelor of Art in Art from Central Connecticut State University and an MA in Curating Contemporary Design from Kingston University, in partnership with the Design Museum, London.

Michaela sees photography as a tool that can help express emotions, tell stories one is not able to tell with words, and help people to be more understanding and empathetic. In the past, she explored the states of mental illnesses, especially depression, through her art. Currently, Michaela's work focuses on the healing process, including methods like talk therapy, self-help books, and meditation.

Her photography series "Our Stories" was done in collaboration with fellow survivors of sexual assault, with the aim of helping them take back the power and control of the situation while showing the brutality of the act in its purest emotional form. After completing "Our Stories", Michaela is currently working on "Healing Journey", which considers various methods of healing.

Michaela's work has been recognized with several awards and features, including Honourable Mention in the International Photography Awards, Best of Show at House of Lucie, and selection in The Women's Film Festival, among others. Her haunting and personal photographs have a rare ability to stop one in their tracks.
